1 適用範囲
この規格は，金属，コンクリート，ガラスなどの建築用構成材の接合部の目地に不定形の状態で充塡し，硬化後に部材に接着して水密性及び気密性を確保するために使用する建築用シーリング材（以下，シーリング材という。）について規定する。
注記 この規格の対応国際規格及びその対応の程度を表す記号を，次に示す。 ISO 11600:2002，Building construction−Jointing products−Classification and requirements for sealants及びAmendment 1:2011（MOD） なお，対応の程度を表す記号“MOD”は，ISO/IEC Guide 21-1に基づき，“修正している”ことを示す。

3.1 シールする（to seal） 同種又は異種材料から構成する各種部材間からの水の浸入，及び空気の通過を防止するために，目地に適切な材料を充塡する作業。
3.2 シーリング材（sealant） 不定形の状態で用い，硬化又は乾燥することで，接着力及び凝集力によって目地をシールするための材料。 3.3 弾性シーリング材（elastic sealant）
目地のムーブメントによって生じた応力がひずみにほぼ比例するシーリング材。
3.4 塑性シーリング材（plastic sealant） 目地のムーブメントによって生じた応力がムーブメントの速度にほぼ比例し，ムーブメントが停止すると素早く緩和するシーリング材。 3.5 1成分形シーリング材（one component sealant） あらかじめ施工に供する状態に調製したシーリング材。 3.6 2成分形シーリング材（two-component sealant）
施工前に基剤及び硬化剤の2成分を，練り混ぜて使用するように調製したシーリング材。
3.7 凝集破壊（cohesive failure） シーリング材自体の破壊。
3.8 接着破壊（adhesive failure） シーリング材と被着体との界面での破壊。
3.9 弾性復元性（elastic recovery） 変形を与える外力を除いたとき，初期の形状及び寸法に戻ろうとするシーリング材の性質。
