1 適用範囲
この規格は，JIS A 8308に規定する土工機械に用いる無線遠隔操縦装置及び有線遠隔操縦装置の安全要求事項について規定する。 この規格は，運転員が遠隔操縦する機械には適用するが，運転員の補助無しに機械の作業を可能にする自律操縦装置には適用しない。この規格は，遠隔操縦ではない機械に装着したアタッチメントの遠隔操縦には適用しない。
この規格は，遠隔操縦装置の性能基準については規定しない。“無線操縦”を細分箇条の題名として使用しているときは，その細分箇条の規定は，無線遠隔操縦装置だけに適用し，“有線操縦” を使用しているときは，有線操縦装置だけに適用する。
注記 この規格の対応国際規格及びその対応の程度を表す記号を，次に示す。 ISO 15817:2005，Earth-moving machinery−Safety requirements for remote operator control（MOD） なお，対応の程度を表す記号“MOD”は，ISO/IEC Guide 21-1に基づき，“修正している”ことを示す。

3 用語及び定義 この規格で用いる主な用語及び定義は，次による。
3.1 遠隔操縦（remote control，remote operator control） 機械とは分離した遠隔操作器から機械に装着された受信器への，有線又は無線信号の伝達による機械の操縦。
3.2 遠隔操縦装置（remote control system）
遠隔操縦する機械に運転情報及び操作の指令を伝達する装置。
注記 遠隔操縦装置は，遠隔操作器及び受信器からなる。
3.3 遠隔操縦運転（remote-controlled operation）
有線又は無線によって，機械から離れた位置にいる運転員が行う機械の運転。 3.4 遠隔操作器（remote control box） 離れた位置から，機械を操縦するために，所要の全ての運転機能を起動させる操作装置を備えた機器。
