1.Scope
This Japanese Industrial Standard specifies high pressure mercury vapourlamps principally utilizing the visible spectrum caused by mercury for lighting,hereinafter referred to as the “1amps” , to be operated by employing the ballastsspecified in JIs c 8110.
2.Definitions
Besides in conformity with JIS Z8113 and JIS Z 8120, for the purposes ofthis standard, the following definitions apply :
(1) rated wattage The rated wattage is the power marked on the lamp.(2)i starting A phenomenon to start electric arc discharge between main electrodes. .
(3) warm-up time The time necessary for the lamp to become stable condition from.the starting of the lamp under a specifled rated input voltage.
(4) restarting time . The time required of the lamp under stable lamp voltagecondition to start again when the specified rated input voltage is appliedimmediately after switching off of the lamp.
(5) initial characteristics: Lamp voltage，lamp current，lamp wattage,total luminous flux and red ratio of the lamp after aged for 100 h.
red ratio The ratio of luminous flux in the wave range longer than600 nm included in the total luminous flux.
(7)light centre length. The distance between the top of the cap and the
centre of the main electrodes.
(8) neck length The length between the top of the cap and a part of the
lamp bulb where the diameter is 2 mm larger than the maximum neck dia-meter shown in Attached Table 1 measured in parallel to the lamp axis.

Lamps are classified by their types as given in Attached Table 1.The types shall be expressed by the following items:

4.1 Adhesive Strength of Cap The adhesive strength of the cap shall withatand the appropriate test torque shown in Table 1 when tested in accordance with 9.2.3.
